South-East Asia with its plethora of multi-ethnicities is rich with cultures and colors. Traditional sewing methods such as the Malaysian Baba-Nyonya beading, Vietnamese silk embroidery, Indonesian batik-printing and Thai hand-woven silk can only stay relevant if they can be integrated as part of contemporary wear. It is important that CAFD champions this message so that young designers can constantly keep in mind the importance of embracing tradition and culture in modern fashion. As more and more designers start to use these traditional sewing methods in their collections, then this culture can then be passed on to the next generation as a business and not just art.
